Study Timer
The study timer is the core of Study-Track. Start a session when you sit down to study: it logs the time automatically so you don't have to track anything manually.
Starting a session
From the week view:
- Tap a class block in your schedule
- Tap Start Session in the panel that opens
From the toolbar:
- Press the Start Session button in the top toolbar
- Select the subject and activity type from the dropdown
Focus Mode
Once a session starts, the Focus Mode overlay appears on top of the entire app. It shows:
- Elapsed time: counts up in real time
- Subject name and activity type
- Pause: freezes the timer without ending the session
- Stop: ends the session and saves it
Focus Mode is designed to stay visible so the timer is always in view. You can still use other apps: the timer keeps running in the background.
Pausing
Press Pause to freeze the timer. Study-Track does not count paused time toward your session total. Press Resume to continue.
Stopping and saving
Press Stop to end the session. Study-Track immediately:
- Saves the session as a calendar event
- Adds the hours to your stats and streak
- Awards XP toward your current level
Resuming after closing the app
If you close the tab or the app without stopping the timer, your session state is saved. When you return, the timer picks up where it left off: including any time that passed while the app was closed.
Idle protection
If a session runs for more than 6 hours without any interaction, Study-Track shows a warning and stops the session automatically. This prevents accidental hour inflation from forgotten open tabs.
Session limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Minimum session length | 1 minute |
| Maximum session length | 6 hours |
| Past event limit | 1 year ago |
| Future event limit | 2 years ahead |
XP from sessions
Every hour studied earns 12 XP. If a friend is also actively studying at the same time as you (your sessions overlap), you earn a small co-study bonus on top.
