Manual ICS Import
If your university or scheduling system isn't listed in the institution search, you can import any standard .ics calendar file. This works with virtually any scheduling system: if it can export a calendar, Study-Track can read it.
Exporting an ICS file
Most calendar and scheduling systems have an export option. Look for it in the following places:
| System | Where to export |
|---|---|
| Google Calendar | Settings → your calendar → Export calendar |
| Outlook | File → Save calendar → Save as type: ICS |
| Apple Calendar | File → Export → Export… |
| University portals | "Download schedule", "Export to calendar", or similar |
Search <your university name> timetable ICS export: most university IT helpdesks have a dedicated guide for this.
Importing the file into Study-Track
-
Go to Settings → Timetable
-
Tap Add timetable
-
Select Upload ICS file
-
Choose the
.icsfile from your device -
Study-Track shows a preview of the events that will be imported
-
Tap Confirm import
What gets imported
Study-Track reads the event title, date, start and end times, and location from the ICS file. Each unique course title becomes a subject with an auto-assigned colour. Activity types (Lecture, Lab, Tutorial) are imported if your source system includes them.
Limitations
Unlike Smartschool and TimeEdit imports, a manually uploaded file is a one-time snapshot: it does not auto-update when your schedule changes. If your timetable is revised mid-semester, you'll need to download a fresh file and re-import.
If your university portal offers both a downloadable ICS file and a subscription URL, prefer the subscription URL and use the Smartschool or TimeEdit import flow instead: those stay current automatically.
Updating a manual import
To replace a manually imported timetable:
- Go to Settings → Timetable
- Tap the import source
- Tap Delete all events from this source
- Upload the new ICS file using the steps above
Any manual edits you made to imported events (title changes, colour overrides) will not carry over. If you've customised events heavily, note your changes before deleting.
